It all starts with the leather we use for our shoes. It’s very important to us that we only use ethically sourced leathers and suedes from tanneries certified by The Leather Working Group, a non-profit organization committed to sustainability and responsible leather production. 

Our Founder & Designer, Lisa Kay, personally surveys and hand-selects only the highest quality leather for our shoes. We always source locally from family-run tanneries in Italy and Spain, eliminating the need for transportation and reducing the length of the supply chain.

In addition to being locally and ethically sourced, the leather we choose has a host of wonderful properties that translates into the beautiful shoes we make for our customers! Here are just a few:

Comfortable

As a brand that specialises in premium comfort, we specifically choose only the softest leathers and suedes. With 100% leather linings and uppers, our shoes literally do fit like a second skin! Leather is also breathable, able to regulate temperature and humidity, and can absorb and release moisture to the environment – great for preventing sweaty feet! 

Durable

The leather used for our shoes is long-lasting and can stand up to daily wear and tear, maintaining its shape and structure much better than synthetic materials. Our shoes are made to last and age very well with the right care and maintenance – and if you do have a well-loved pair, they can often be repaired by a professional cobbler. With quality materials and timeless designs, our shoes are the antithesis to fast fashion!

Natural leather is an extremely versatile material that is flexible and receptive to dye, meaning the sky is our limit when it comes to the colours and designs our Founder & Designer Lisa can dream up! No matter what you choose or how you style them, our leather shoes have a natural beauty that takes any outfit up a level - and they only get better with time, developing a natural patina for even more character and charm. Natural and Sustainable

Our leather is a by-product of other industries and would otherwise go to waste. As a natural material, it is allergy-friendly and doesn’t absorb dust or strong scents as synthetic materials do.

Expert Shoemaking

After selecting the best leathers for our shoes, Lisa works closely with the artisans of our trusted family-run Italian and Spanish factories, who have decades of shoemaking expertise. 

This generations-deep knowledge and skill ensures the utmost care and quality in every stage of production, preventing the waste entailed in poor, large-scale manufacturing. We purposely manufacture in small quantities, making only what we know we can sell so that nothing goes to waste.

After working with our factories for over 20 years, we have been able to hone the manufacturing process down to the finest detail. Our wonderful artisans understand the ethos of Sole Bliss and what we strive to achieve with our shoes!
