Shearling has a multitude of great properties that recommend it – which is why we choose it for our shoes!

Shearling is the best lining for cold weather shoes as it has natural insulation properties, so our shearling-lined boots are the perfect boot for winter. It is a very strong and durable material that can last for many years, and is naturally elastic, allowing it to adapt to your foot shape. It is also hypoallergenic so great for sensitive skin and allergies.

As shearling is a by-product of the meat industry that would otherwise go to waste, it is a natural and sustainable option. Not to mention it is so sumptuously soft! We recommend wearing our shearling-lined shoes without socks to get the most benefit from our luxurious shearling-lined footwear.

Is shearling warmer than sheepskin?

Shearling is denser than sheepskin, which helps it trap air and retain heat. This makes it better than sheepskin for extremely cold temperatures, as sheepskin doesn’t provide quite the same level of insulation.

Are shearling shoes good for sweaty feet?

Shearling shoes are great for sweaty feet because shearling is a naturally temperature-regulating and breathable material that enables the proper circulation of air around your feet. Shearling has moisture-wicking properties, absorbing the moisture from your feet and allowing it to evaporate, so shearling-lined shoes are great at keeping your feet warm, dry and comfortable! Additionally, shearling is naturally antimicrobial due to the lanolin oil in sheep skin and wool, which inhibits the growth of odour-causing bacteria.

What’s the difference between shearling and wool?

Shearling is a type of sheepskin that comes from a young sheep or lamb, making it very soft. It is tanned with the wool still attached to the hide; these duel layers of wool and suede are what gives our shearling-lined shoes such excellent insulation.

Wool is made from the shorn fleece of a sheep and is slightly denser than shearling, making our wool-lined shoes warm and comfortable.
